When Daksha saw Sati, he publicly insulted her and taunted her. Unable to bear this humiliation, Sati jumped into the sacrificial fire and killed herself. Filled with sorrow and anger, Lord Shiva, plucked two locks of hair and thrashed them on the ground. Thus Lord Veerabhadra and Bhadrakali were born. These two forms were very terrible- fiery eyes burning with anger, open hair, tall dark body with a garland of skulls holding weapons.
